what we wore

my children are easy to dress. i can eyeball their size, grab something cute & call it a day.

myself, not so much. there is no eyeballing (mainly when it comes to pants)- those bad boys need to be tried on & analyzed in front of a full length mirror with horrible lighting.

but now & again i manage to snag a few items that actually work together (imo) & i feel like a respectable member of quasi-fashion society.

me:
sweater: Old Navy
pants: Old Navy
pink tank top: Target
shoes: Steve Madden

alex:
dress: H&M
shoes: Boc by Born

what we wore

after much searching online & going to the mall (on a freaking weeknight at like, 8:30) i scored the perfect, in my opinion, chambray shirt.

i wore it yesterday & one of my best friends told me she had the same shirt....in 1995.

i told her that chambray is in & that she could shut her mouth. she told me to stop using the term chambray because, dude- it's a denim shirt. then we both looked at the Olan Mills portrait picture of her on the living room wall. the one wear she's wearing her denim shirt. in 1995.

we're still friends. & i'm still going to wear my denim shirt.

what we wore

it's been awhile since we've done a "what we wore" session.
this is not because we've taken to walking around naked- no worries- but more so because both girls refuse to look or smile at me when i have my camera in hand.

apparently this can be explained mathematically.

mommy + camera - (time + cute clothes) + cute shoes - (dirt x throwup) - poop / combed hair = no smiles²

does that look right? we've already been over the fact that math & i don't see eye to eye so that's the best i can do. i think everything adds up though.

thankfully, sunday found us partaking of breakfast at a neat little place up in Mason, NH (NH people- Parker's Maple Barn = kick ass) & the lovely fall weather + being outside & out of their element = "i suppose we'll grace mother with a smile."

as you can see she is holding on to two of her favorite things in life: Foofa & a SpongeBob Squarepants sippy cup. God help us if either is lost or forgotten. God. help. us.

this child is pure magic. she is the most smiley, snuggly, sweetest child in the history of the world. random strangers get leg hugs & mega watt smiles thanks to this kid. a polar opposite of her older sister.

i think this picture makes it seem like i'm sporting a Jersey Shore'esque tan + hair highlights.
i promise you i am not guilty of either. i'm also not 100% sure what's going on- lets blame it on the lighting. and the fact that my husband took the picture.

my clothes: really? i don't think anyone is chomping at the bit for this look.

once again- a rare picture of the 3 of us = one child looking slightly maniacal & the other looking lost. seriously precious.

happy monday people.

saturday was so spring. and i felt like looking like spring (make sense?) so dresses & rompers were the way to go.

i adore rompers- gah! but since i know i couldn't get away with wearing them i make sure the girls have plenty in their closet. rompers = easiest summer article of clothing.

as for my dress- i love it! i managed to snag the last one in my size at my local Target when they came out this past winter.

a little bit of bunching around the belt (whilst holding a babe) makes for a bit of an unflattering middle section look- but that's not Libertine's fault.
my weakness for brownies probably doesn't help either.

however, with my six pack when i suck in & smooth- everything looks a lot better.

happy weekend!

easter weekend / what we wore

i don't dress up often- i simply don't have the time or energy. or the clothing- apparently. however, i don't skimp on Easter.

if i think back to my childhood - i recall pretty dresses, white patent leather shoes, a stiff hat & fresh tights with no holes.

and i remember loving it. because even a tomboy likes to look pretty once in awhile.

so even as an adult, i take the time to look nice on Easter. an now as a wife & mother- i feel like my family should look nice as well.

so here's how we did:

ta da! poised & put together- if only for about 5 minutes.

but 5 minutes was enough- i even managed to squeeze in some mommy & daddy shots:

and everything else is courtesy of yours truly. obviously.

but wait- do i dare??? yes- i dare take even more pictures to include the grandparents (my in-laws)

and then we added the girl's cousin Jameson:

who has perfected the pout face...

...and promtly pwnd grandma.

and then we brought it together for 3 generations.

and i swear brynn wasn't rockin' a frown all day:

she mixed it up with a look of "um...what?"

and since i thought it'd be vain of me to ask someone to take a picture of ME ALONE (whaaa?!)- i was forced to take my own later that evening in our badly lit bedroom:

i do have some pictures of alex & her easter basket excitement- but i'll save those for later.
