what i wore

as i stated- i've gotten "dressed" for the past 3 days this week (hooray!)

here's what monday looked like:

Picnik collage22

cardi: Old Navy
shirt: H&M
jeans: dELiA*s
wedges: Old Navy

i'm not gonna lie- i have no idea if these items of clothing are still "fashionable"- they were purchased many moons ago.
but i'm going to go with "possibly" because no one did any horrified double takes when i made a quick stop at Target for diapers & breastmilk bags...

my life? G-L-A-M-O-R-O-U-S! Fergie knows what i'm talking about.

Picnik collage23

and see? i even combed my hair. rather, i ran a curling iron through it. actually- sort of pointless since it was misting out & my hair bends over for wet weather. but it's the thought that counts.

and my skin's the greenish pallor? simply the elevator's porno lighting. nothing to be concerned about.

unless you're concern lies in the fact that my office building has porno lighting- and then your concern is justified.

easter cont..

is easter about eggs, bunnies & baskets full of candy? no.

but, is it pretty awesome to wake up to eggs, bunnies & a basket full of candy? yes!

toss in a Yo Gabba Gabba blanket & some shoes & you've got yourself one happy toddler:

the holy grail. (yes, those are ginger ale cans holding up her blanket. don't judge me.)

Picnik collage2

elation over the prospect of a pure sugar coma.

DSC_0025

brynn only gets excited over milk- not easter baskets.

after ingesting a plastic egg full of jelly beans- we headed outside (as though the fresh air would some how make up for the fact that we allowed our child to eat candy for breakfast)

the husband, alex & the chickens went scratching around & discovered some new spring insects:

mmm- creepy crawlers.

and you've already seen the rest of our day.

but what you haven't seen is me taking pictures of my outfit in the work elevator.

i've been trying to actually put on decent clothes in the mornings- and i feel like my efforts should be documented (for when i revert back to my schlepping ways & need reminding of what i once accomplished)

but i'll save those for tomorrow.

easter weekend / what we wore

i don't dress up often- i simply don't have the time or energy. or the clothing- apparently. however, i don't skimp on Easter.

if i think back to my childhood - i recall pretty dresses, white patent leather shoes, a stiff hat & fresh tights with no holes.

and i remember loving it. because even a tomboy likes to look pretty once in awhile.

so even as an adult, i take the time to look nice on Easter. an now as a wife & mother- i feel like my family should look nice as well.

so here's how we did:

DSC_0005

alex & brynn:

dress/romper: Tea Collection

socks: Old Navy

shoes: See Kai Run

_______________

me:

dress: Target

cardi: Old Navy

belt: Target

wedges: kelly & katie via Off Broadway Shoes

_______________

the husband:

shirt: theGap

jeans: Levi's

shoes: Saucony

ta da! poised & put together- if only for about 5 minutes.

but 5 minutes was enough- i even managed to squeeze in some mommy & daddy shots:

(in case you're wondering- they have his eyes)

and everything else is courtesy of yours truly. obviously.

but wait- do i dare??? yes- i dare take even more pictures to include the grandparents (my in-laws)

and then we added the girl's cousin Jameson:

who has perfected the pout face...

DSC_0019-2

...and promtly pwnd grandma.

DSC_0021-2

and then we brought it together for 3 generations.

and i swear brynn wasn't rockin' a frown all day:

DSC_0030-2

she mixed it up with a look of "um...what?"

and since i thought it'd be vain of me to ask someone to take a picture of ME ALONE (whaaa?!)- i was forced to take my own later that evening in our badly lit bedroom:

look- POCKETS! a dress with pockets = i will probably buy it.

as i stated- i don't dress up often- but i thought i did A-Ok this time around.

i do have some pictures of alex & her easter basket excitement- but i'll save those for later.

what they wore

DSC_0005

top: gift (Target)

skirt: Target

leggings: BabyLegs

shoes: Converse

onesie: H&M

leggings: BabyLegs

bib: BeanPickleSprout

as you can see- the jumper has made it's way back upstairs. i'm honestly not sure why i didn't haul this thing up weeks ago- bryn can more than hold her head up & she's a sucker for anything brightly colored & dangly.

as soon as i put her in this thing it was like sensory overload. she actually sat there in some sort of stunned silence for a good 2 minutes- probably trying to figure out how to process all of the amazing right in front of her face.

DSC_0012

alex, at first oblivious, quickly came over to investigate.

DSC_0011

she alternated between "showing" brynn all of the toys & trying to shove a popsicle down her throat.

DSC_0013

thankfully this friendly interaction allowed me 15 minutes to throw dinner together.

then both girls lost interest & realized that one child was covered in poop & the other had painted a large section of the floor (and her body) with an orange popsicle.

bath time.

DSC_0015-2

and last but not least- i finally put alex's hair into pigtails. i'm really not sure why i haven't attempted this before- because it's adorable.

it could have something to do with the fact that my child associates getting her hair done with being tortured- so the price i pay for these pigtails is pretty steep- but it's worth it.

brynn's 4 month stats

this entry is for my own benefit because i don't have that steel trap memory that many mothers are blessed with.

so if another mother were to strike up a conversation with me in regards to my children's "stats"- i have a feeling it would go something like this,

her: "oh hello! your girls are just darling! now tell me, how much did brynn weigh when she was 4 months old? and how long was she? and her head circumference?"

me: "...wait. i have children? i'm a mother??!!? i had babies & they grew & reached milestones that i'm supposed to remember?!?! lkghfyrnebcebeyimo!!!!!!!!"

(commence me looking down & realizing that i'm wearing a cardigan & clogs & clutching a fistfull of coupons. dear God! when did this happen!? what have i become!!!!??)

i kid. i kid. but only slightly. because i just looked down & realized that i am indeed wearing a cardigan, Dansko clogs & i just printed & cut out 2 coupons for Chobani yogurt ::squee::

le'sigh. anyway- i digress. here are brynn's 4 month stats:

weight: 14 lbs 8.1 oz

height: 25.2 inches

head circ: 42 cm

and she got 3 vaccines. 2 shots & 1 oral.

she's healthy & adorable & is chock full of unicorns, lollipops & moonbeams- hooray!

happy friday

wow. i think i blogged every day this week. amazing. but don't get used to it.

we'll end our week with some tiptoeing- because alex is currently obsessed with it.

DSC_0529 DSC_0528 DSC_0527 DSC_0526 DSC_0525 DSC_0523

she does this everywhere. so when she asks to get down & walk i actually cringe. not because she looks weird or anything (even though she does) but because i know it's going to take her twice as long to get from point A to point B.

the first time the husband saw her doing it he watched her for like 5 minutes & then asked me what the hell was wrong with her.

i answered, "she's tiptoeing- duh."

to which he replied, "who the hell does that- duh."

and i ended with, "your mom- duh. FACE!"

we're very mature & respectful in this house. duh.

happy friday!

part IV

alex had her 18 month appt this morning.

32 in tall

22 lbs

perfect in every way...except she was sporting a shiny new ear infection.

i feel bad because i had NO idea. no fever, no ear pulling, sleeping fine- nada. she has been fussy- but she also has teeth coming in & she's been sick. so yeah.

we have an RX for an antibiotic & we should be cleared up within a few days.

she also got her Hep A shot. she was SO not happy. but she recovered enough to slap the sticker out of the nurse's hand. how mortifying.

brynn has her 4 month appt on monday (why they won't let me schedule both girls at the same time is beyond me) so we'll see where she's at then. now- on to part IV of picture weekend:

DSC_0423 DSC_0422 DSC_0420 DSC_0419

"posicle" (that's how she says it) & "PET GARY!" (that's how she yells it)

DSC_0418 DSC_0417 DSC_0413 DSC_0412

she's started noticing her shadow- so she's turn around & around trying to look at it. then she'll stop. and move. and laugh. and say "HI! ME! YOU!"

DSC_0424 DSC_0425 DSC_0426

while alex is outside the door to the chicken coop is NOT ALLOWED to be open. she goes over & slams it shut. and then says. "THERE! Shut." and wipes her hands. it's hysterical.

DSC_0493 DSC_0494

nom nom.

DSC_0470 DSC_0471 DSC_0472

she loves to chase after the chickens, all the while screaming- "HUG! CHICKEN! ILAUUU! KISS!"

the chickens are having none of it.

DSC_0460

"why? mommy- why dat? NO! POSICLE?!"

i'll wrap up the week with part V tomorrow- tip-toeing!
