not enough time

with the arrival of spring i figured warmer weather & better lighting would be in my immediate future (you know, good for picture taking).

sadly- neither of the above are anywhere to be found.
instead we got 3 inches of snow & weather dipping into the 30's.

i really don't approve. but i managed to get some shots of the girls. barely. these are like, grabyourcameraandsimplystartshootingbecauseit'sbeenlikeaweekalready pictures. meh.

but first- some pictures of my weekend indulgence:

DSC_0001-2

none of the above asses belong to me. i am no longer in posession of an ass because my children took it with them (along with my youth & flat stomach) on their departure from my womb.

DSC_0005

i wanted to down this. but i'm a breastfeeding mother whos child demands milk at ALL times- so i refrained.

DSC_0006

as you can see, the birthday girl was clearly entertained- and not by us. kids today.

my Blackberry is currently covered in drool & smears of grape jelly- courtesy of my toddler who likes to "talk" on the phone.

DSC_0007
DSC_0008

do you see that plate of heaven? i had to restrain myself from stabbing the other girls with my fondue fork when they reached over to grab some. afterall- it was for all of us. to share. damnit.

i love cheese & chocolate. this is the truth.

the next day we purchased a potty for alex- she been telling me when she's poopy & she likes to "wipe" herself (even when she has pants on still- yeah) so we figured it was time.

the husband put it together & let her have at it. i'm not sure she understands all of the logistics- because this is what i walked in on:

DSC_0013
DSC_0014

"ELMO! SIT!"

poor elmo.

brynn simply watched this go down...

DSC_0015

all the while filling her diaper & swing seat with her foul mustard poop. thank you.

which resulted in me having to take the time to wash it & hang it from our shower rod:

DSC_0017

oh snap.

i got home yesterday to a rather sporty looking little girl- whith mile high hair:

DSC_0027

she loves her fruit in a pouch.

...and watching tv while standing in random spots:

DSC_0029
DSC_0030

"MAMMA! GABBA!"

i managed to squeeze in dinner & baths before the stupid Fresh Beat Band came on- and both girls gave me a few minutes to sit. that's all- sit. and watch them.

DSC_0033
DSC_0035

(i promise i don't leave brynn in that chair all by her lonesome self. what kind of mother would i be?)

so there. that's something at least. perhaps this weekend will afford me time to drag the girls outdoors & annoy them with my picture taking. perhaps.

and now i'm starving- and considering McD's for lunch- but who am i kidding? i'm far to lazy to get up- get in my car- drive to McD's- order- drive back..yeah. no.

plus i'm cheap. so i guess i'll eat pretzels. because i forgot my lunch. damnit.

stuff & things

this is going to be a random spattering of stuff & thing that i feel you need to know.

- thanks to coupon clipping- i've enjoyed FREE Fruit & Maple Oatmeal from McDonald's every day last week & today. would i dish out $2 for it? no- but i'll dish out $0.

- i'm 99% sure that new Katy Perry song ('Extraterrestrial') is going to be on the Breaking Dawn soundtrack. it's, like, perfect.

- both girls are battling snotty noses & i feel that this is very unfair since we're on the cusp of spring. i'd like to take this up with someone.

- i spend quite a bit of time pulling apart my split ends. so much time, in fact, that even the husband tells me to knock it off. when your husband, who probably wouldn't even notice if i shaved my head, tells you to "stop playing with your split ends!"- it's time for a trim.

- dude, i just found an epic split end. when your splits end's split end's have split ends- it's time for more than a trim.
thinking about it...i'm actually kind of mortified to even have a professional see how bad my hair is. omg.

- speaking of the word "mortified"- i once used this word in general conversation. the husband & his brother quickly jumped on me & were like:

them: "you were mortified? how does that even make sense? how were you dead?"
me: ::blink blink::
them: "well?"
me: "...what the hell are you talking about?!"
them: "mortified means dead. like, you're mortified as in dead & in a mortuary."
me: "OMG NO IT DOES NOT! bwahahaha!" (literally, i 'bwahahaha'd')
them: "um, yes it does. it only makes sense. you're a woman & you're stupid & we are men & we're the most smartest thing to walk the earth." (literally, they said that)
me: "ok- let's google it then."

now we all know what google says:
Definition
"To cause to experience shame, humiliation, or wounded pride; humiliate"

however, in their defense:
Definition
Pathology: "To undergo mortification; become gangrenous or necrosed."

them: "well...you see how we could be confused."
me: "...wtf? no, no i do not! both of you shut up forever. i'm actually mortified for you."

done. it was an epic exchange- and to this day i still bring it up in family conversations. also, when in their presence, i use the word "mortified" as much as humanly possible. moving on.

- i went to The Melting Pot this weekend for my bff's birthday. this is the second time within 3 weeks and i consumed a disgusting amount of cheese & chocolate.
...then i came home & made myself a grilled cheese. i was still hungry!

- i have taken about 2 pictures of the girls within the last week. unacceptable. but in my defense- this working mom of 2 thing is sort of hard. and time consuming. and hard. and oh, so tiring.

- when the husband asked (for the 3rd night in a row) "what's for dinner?"- i responded with "YOUR ASS!"- to which he responded "umm...ok. i'll have cereal."

- i felt bad about the above comment so i made dinner the next 3 nights, and i made today's dinner yesterday afternoon. all is forgiven.

- bryn is still sleeping in the R&P Sleeper next to our bed & i'm actually worried because i have no idea how to switch her to her crib. none. zip. zero. she's never slept in her crib. yiiikes.

- i feel like this entry is really boring without pictures- but i seriously don't have any. sorry.

- i just sat here for 10 minutes trying to think of something witty to say- i've got nothing.

picture overload

today is my last day of maternity leave.
i think i'm at a 70/30 on being relieved to get back to a sense of normalcy, and on missing the girls. but they'll be in good hands, so that helps immensely.
honestly- a nanny over daycare is the way to go (for us at least)- besides being a bit more affordable, i feel like they'll get more one on one attention & less colds ::fingers crossed::
i'm 99% comfortable with our decision. 99% because i'm not even 100% with myself sometimes. seriously.

and now some picture overload- because i'll need to look at these tomorrow around...9am? oy!
let's start with some "what they wore"

DSC_0031

hoodie: Happy Green Bee
skirt: babyGap
tights: Old Navy
shoes: Vans

DSC_0014-2

onsie: babyGap
pants: Splendid (thrifted)

shirt: Target

leggings: Target
socks: Old Navy

cardigan: Target

tights: Old Navy
shoes: Livie & Luca

our Yo Gabba Gabba shoes finally came (in the right size) so the first day she got to wear them was probably one of the happiest days of her young life. she seriously couldn't take her eyes off of them:

she was pretty happy- until she noticed brynn sitting in her chair...

DSC_0038

"GET OOOOOUT!!!!"

DSC_0040

it was very dramatic- and hilarious.

meanwhile- brynn continues to be a rolling machine. and she laughs now- straight up belly laughs. it's too cute.

and then we took a little trip to heaven IKEA. alex had so much fun- and thankfully we went on a thursday morning so it was virtually empty- so she had free reign.

yeah- that slide was responsible for an epic tantrum/meltdown. we'd spent a good 15 minutes going up & down- and when it was time to move on alex was having none of it.
insert a kicking & screaming toddler. i got several looks of pity from other knowing mothers who had wisely skirted the slide area.
next time- i'll remember this. i blame it all on friend megan:

DSC_0071

woops.

and brynn had a blast too- she was staring around in wonder:

then it was time to visit the Family Room bathroom (which is awesome):

and then we left. and after a nice nap, the girls chilled:

alex is slowly warming up to her sister. she actually allowed her to touch her foot. amazing. usually a "be nice to your sister" results in a stank face- like so:

DSC_0005

so a lack of one = big steps.

and that's about it. i'm off to spend the rest of my last day home with my girls...and catching up on Teen Mom.
