5 more days

only 5 more days until my kid is 1. 5 days is a long time. practically an eternity- so i'm not going to think about it. ok? ok.

let's focus on other things- like how cute she is right now. at ONLY 11 months. not 12 months. not 1 year. 11 months. still a baby.

this weekend was full up for miss alex. all day saturday = running around & picking up party stuff. literally- all day. the husband got out of bed at 10am (must be nice, right?) and we were out the door by 11:30. and we didn't get home until 7:30pm. like i said, full up.

and guess what? we weren't even done. we still needed to hit up Wal Mart for extras. so sunday = more full up. until 11. then we had to be home because it was D-Day for the chickens. that means the husband's brother finally came over & finished up the wiring & now my house is officially chicken free. thank God. because they smell. bad.

but that also meant the newest member of the bird family (alex's cousin) was also in attendance. i am proud to say that alex only smack him on the head once! she was very gentle 99% of the time. but she wasn't all that interested either. playing in the laundry basket = way more awesome than new baby.
so sunday was full of chickens, family, food & football. ...and alex's new obsession with climbing into the laundry basket. and chips. this kid loves tortilla chips.

and now that she no longer really fits into her jumper- she is super interested in it:

money well spent as you can see.

and this weekend was also a win because of a few other things:

1. i've finally found a sippy cup that my kid will drink from! hooray.
- it's got a straw thingy & she's obsessed with it. she's also obsessed with sucking up way too much & then spitting it out. which = 5 outfit changes yesterday. we'll have to work on that one.

2. we bought alex her first pair of "real" shoes. PediPed = awesome.

PediPed Isabella Sheepskin

- i was suprised i went with pink. but she IS a girl & they didn't have brown. so..yeah. plus, they're soft soled & she loves them. she'll be walking on her own within the next few weeks (i'm positive) so it'll be nice for her to have something on her little feet. and then i can pull out the big guns & order some hard soled ones that i love....that are also way too much money so i shouldn't. but yeah.

so there you go. weekend in review. and i'll leave you with the following picture of what happens to you NOT YET 1 YEAR OLD when she is completely & utterly exhausted from her "full up" weekend:

28 weeks & 11 months

so here we are- in all our glory @ 5:45 in the AM:

she was weirdly excited about max getting in on the picture action

as i look at these i feel very large- in the belly area that is. like seriously- how much bigger can i get? how much farther can i stick out? where will it all go?!

even my mother commented on the belly size (and my mother is awesome & never comments on things she shouldn't)
she asked if baby#2 was bigger than alex because she remembers me being closer to this size @ the end. oy.

at least my ass & thighs are smaller this time. for now.

i'm still not wearing anything maternity- but i think that's going to end soon. the pants i have on are the ones that i fit into a few weeks after alex until i had to buy smaller. they're comfortable for now but i'm not sure how long it'll last.

and i think i'll need longer shirts- no way around it. i'm being somewhat of a tightwad & i really don't want to spend money on anything new (clothing wise) but i'm going to have to pick up something...because going naked isn't an option. meh.

in other news: next week is D-Day. well more like B-Day!!! i can't believe my child is going to be 1. i hover between excitement & horror at the thought.

has it already been 1 year? 1 year since she i saw her for the very first time? and counted all her fingers & toes? and marveled at her hair? and looked into shockingly BLUE eyes? God! no words.

well it's friday. and fall is here. and i'm counting the hours until the weekend. and i'm assuming you are as well- happy happy!

confession

my child had cool ranch doritos for dinner last night.

...and some strawberries, bananas and a handful of blueberries.

i do feel incredibly guilty- because it's my fault for eating them in front of her & then offering her one. and then another. and another.

finally, i came to my senses & decided that she'd had quite enough. i cleaned her up & put her down to play while i went back to the kitchen with every intention on putting away the bag of devil chips.

every intention. i swear.

well let's just say that the only person who ate a well balanced dinner last night was the husband- because i was too full (and queasy) after my doritos binge fest.

disclaimer: i'm not a horrible mother. she only had like 3 full chips. honest.

weekend in review

this weekend:

Sat: our nephew/cousin was born (the husband's brother's 1st kid)
we visited, we held, we rocked, we freaked (omg, babies are really that small?!) etc etc
alex "liked" the baby- but doesn't "get him"- so we'll see where she's at in another 3 months.

Sun: football season has begun. so that = 6+ hours of the tv tuned to NFL RedZone and God knows what else. it also = 6+ hours of the husband glued to his many fantasy football team webpages. incredibly boring.

so sunday in the AM = errands. and sunday in the PM = go go go for me & relax & watch football for the husband.

hmmm, doesn't seem fair. he did keep alex entertained at some points, but when she turns on the "mamamamamama" and the clingy, crawly, whiney- etc, it's all me. and during this time i had to cook & bake & clean & do laundry & blah blah blah.

even when she went down for a blissfully long nap- there was no rest. i wanted nothing more than to throw myself on the couch & zone out, but lasagna, freezer burritos & cookies don't make themselves. and the laundry fairy isn't real.

the husband always says: "oh you could just sit down & relax you know. you don't have to do all that stuff."

really? well if i don't do it, then who, pray tell, is going to? you husband? i think not. so whatever.

despite my annoyance at my lack of relaxation on a sunday, i was pleased with myself for getting so much done. i made meals for us & meals for the above ment. new parents (cooking after the baby just sucks)

and alex was a joy- minimal fussing & generally in a good mood. and even though she always wants to be picked up at the most inopportune moments (hello, rolling a burrito here) the feeling of her clinging to my legs is the best.

so hands down- it was a fabulous weekend. fall weather (finally), family, friends, food, football (uuuh). it was rainy- but i'm ok with that.

and i took pictures of course- but not nearly as many as i would have liked.

as you can see, despite living in NE we are not Pats fans. in fact, the Pats piss my husband off more than anything. he's a 49ers fan- and i guess alex is too now.

and since i never have any pictures of alex & myself, i asked the husband to take a few. this is what he got:

DSC_0011-2

really? this is it?! i had to delete the other ones he took- i mean, they were worse than horrible. i have no idea why he is so camera challenged. but he tried. bless him.

at least alex is cute:

DSC_0015-2

she's LOVES the car carts at BJ's (and any store for that matter) when it's time to get out- she fights it. oh how she fights.

and this was saturday when we arrived at the hospital to visit the newest baby bird:

DSC_0005-3

she was so out. like completely OUT. nothing would wake her. so we sat in the car for another 30min or so to allow the princess to sleep. i wish i could sleep like that.

and lastly- alex eating:

DSC_0001-2
DSC_0002-2
DSC_0003-2

obviously this is at the very start of her meal- within 5 minutes she's a hot mess. the fact that blueberries are her ABSOLUTE FAVORITE don't help. they must be had at every meal and we all know what blueberries do. eh.

and there you have it- another weekend with us.

it's close- but not yet

last friday + 6 days = 27 weeks which = still in the 2nd trimester which = 28 weeks - 6 days = not the 3rd trimester which = baby not coming soon which = that's quite alright with me.

whew.

but wait.

27 weeks + 6 days = next week which = 28 weeks which = 3rd trimester which = baby coming soon which = omg, baby?! coming soon?!

whaaa?

see? math sucks- and it can freak you out. so they should stop with all this "math is important" crap. because math is like the worst thing ever...

...besides spiders & exorcism movies. dear God.
